Raab to take 15,000ft plunge in aid of children’s hospice charity

The justice secretary and deputy prime minister Dominic Raab is set to take part in a 15,000-foot sky today, in aid of Shooting Stars Children’s Hospices.

He has so far raised over £23,400, reportedly with help from the Chancellor Rishi Sunak, and former prime minister David Cameron, whose son Ivan was helped by the charity before he sadly passed away aged six in 2009.

The charity supports and provides palliative care to families with children who are not expected to reach the age of 19 because of illness, genetic conditions or incurable disease.

Raab said: “I’ve been involved with the charity for some time now. I’ve been touched by the devotion of their staff and volunteers and have seen how valuable the facilities at their hospices are. Like any parent, I can’t begin to imagine what families using these facilities are going through.”

He joked: “Whatever your reasons for wanting me to jump out of a plane, I hope you’ll feel able to support this excellent cause.”
