PM accused of attending another drinks party in No 10 garden during lockdown

Fresh allegations detailed in The Sunday Times suggest the prime minister personally attending a drinks party in the garden of No 10 during the first lockdown with wife Carrie in May 2020.

The newspaper cited three sources which stated that Martin Reynolds, Mr Johnson’s principal private secretary, emailed Downing Street officials with an invite adding “BYOB”. BYOB means bring your own bottle.

The event is currently under investigation by senior civil servant Sue Gray as part of her inquiry into potential rule-breaking events being held in No 10 during the coronavirus pandemic.

Former Downing Street adviser Dominic Cummings has said that, at the time, he and another adviser had warned that the drinks could be against the rules. In his blog, Mr Cummings has urged Ms Gray to “dig up” the invitations to the event, as well as his email to colleagues warning against it.
