Latest poll suggests Conservative support has stopped falling

Following a two week period in early November when support for the Conservatives has fallen from around the 40% mark to near 35%, a new poll released has suggested that support for the party might have stabilized.

The latest poll released today by YouGov showed the Conservatives on 36% (+1%), Labour on 34% (-1%), the Green party on 10% (+1%), and the Liberal Democrats now in 4th place on 7% (-1%).

The poll will be welcomed in Downing Street after a two week period when government support appeared to have been quite negatively impacted by the fallout from the Owen Patterson affair.

The improved showing for the Green Party is also notable, echoing a poll in early November for Ipsos Mori in which the Green Party was shown polling 11%, again ahead of the Liberal Democrats.

The Conservatives will welcome this latest polling news ahead of the Old Bexley and Sidcup Parliamentary byelection due to be held in a fortnight on December 2nd.
