Labour MP writes letter asking for Met to reverse decision not to investigate party claims

Labour MP Neil Coyle has written a letter to Dame Cressida Dick questioning the Metropolitan Police’s decision not to investigate whether there was a party at Downing Street last year.

The letter says: “I am somewhat perplexed to see a public see a public statement from the Met suggesting no investigation will take place despite the significant public interest, the apparent law breaking and the Prime Minister agreeing to furnish your officers with more information.

“Just last week, a number of individuals were fined 1,100 each by the courts for holding parties in London on 18th December 2020… There cannot be one rules for the public and another for Boris Johnson and his cronies.”

Coyle had previously written a letter last week calling for a police investigation.
