Labour gain first Rutland county councillor since 1999

Labour have gained their first Rutland county councillor in over a decade in a byelection held yesterday in Oakham North West.

Leah Toseland won with 293 votes and will serve until the next round of normal council elections in 2023.

The Conservative candidate Daniel Bottomley came in second place with 175 votes.

The election turnout was 18 per cent.
