Ian Blackford to address independence rally in Glasgow

Ian Blackford MP, the SNP’s leader at Westminster, will today address a march and rally for independence in Glasgow.

This will mark the most senior SNP figure to address a Yes movement rally since prior to the pandemic, when First Minister Nicola Sturgeon spoke at The National’s Glasgow rally in November 2019.

An attendance of around 1000 is expected.

It is the Yes2indee campaign group’s first large-scale public march.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson mocked the MP for Ross, Skye and Lochaber In his keynote address to the Conservative Party Conference earlier this week.

He said: “For years the SNP leader at Westminster, Ian Blackford, has been telling the Commons that he is nothing but a humble crofter on the isle of Skye.

He went on: “Now we have fibre-optic broadband of a very high quality we can inspect the library, or is it perhaps the billiard room, of Ian Blackford’s croft and that is levelling up in action.”
