GDP remains 2.1% below pre-pandemic levels, say ONS

New GDP figures released today by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that there was just 1.3% growth to UK GDP in the third quarter (1 July – 30 September) of this year.

There was also 0.6% growth in September.

This is still 2.1% lower than pre-pandemic levels, despite the easing of Covid restrictions during this period.

According to the ONS this points toward a GDP growth of 5.1% for the whole of 2021, down from the Office for Budget Responsibility’s prediction of 6.5% just a fortnight ago.
