Alleged kindergarten attack ‘straight out of the Kremlin playbook’, says Liz Truss

The foreign secretary has accused a reported attack by pro-Russian separatists on a kindergarten in eastern Ukraine as being “straight out of the Kremlin playbook”.

Liz Truss tweeted during her visit to Kiev that: “Reports of alleged abnormal military activity by Ukraine in Donbas are a blatant attempt by the Russian government to fabricate pretexts for invasion,” following reports of the shelling at a Kindergarten.

Nato intelligence has issued consistent warnings of a false flag attack in Ukraine that Russia may use as a pretext for invasion.

Truss also claimed she remains “very concerned” regarding reports of an additional 7,000 Russian troops arriving  on its frontier with Ukraine.

She also reiterated her calls that Russia remove troops, stressing that there is “still time” for peace.

“Very concerned about reports today of increased Russian aggression: over 7,000 extra troops near the Ukraine border and an attack by pro-Russian troops on a kindergarten in Ukraine,” she explained..

“Reports of alleged abnormal military activity by Ukraine in Donbas are a blatant attempt by the Russian government to fabricate pretexts for invasion.

“This is straight out of the Kremlin playbook. The United Kingdom will continue to call out Russia’s disinformation campaign,” she went on.
