Alexander: Kusa must face the law

Douglas Alexander, shadow foreign secretary, commented on Musa Kusa’s defection:
“As a sign of disillusionment and disunity within the Gaddafi regime this is welcome news.
“The foreign secretary is right to say that Gaddafi has lost any legitimacy and defections that advance our operational progress in enforcing UN Security Council Resolution 1973 should be encouraged as far as is practical.
“Musa Kusa is not and should not be above either British or international law.
“While there is an urgent operational need to ascertain information from Musa Kusa with respect to the present conflict in Libya, the relevant authorities, including the police, should in time be able to ask him all the necessary questions about Libya’s violent history, not least on British soil.”
