Air pollution: ‘Lives are at stake’

Schools, councils and businesses across the country celebrate Clean Air Day today, a day dedicated to raising awareness about the dangers of air pollution.

In the UK alone 36,000 deaths are linked to air pollution every year. Health problems associated with air pollution include diabetes, asthma and dementia.

Larissa Lockwood, director of clean air at Global Action Plan, called on everyone to think more about their actions, saying: “We really do need to think about the lives that are at stake.”
