Oxfam reaction to government support for Somali people facing famine

Pauline Chetcuti, Oxfam Policy Lead, said:

“This money is welcome but it is a tiny fraction of what is needed to save lives and prevent catastrophe. People in Somalia face their worst hunger crisis in living memory, with millions at risk of starvation if famine is not stopped in its tracks.

“Climate chaos has led to consecutive seasons of failed crops and the loss of animals. Rich countries like ours, that have done most to cause climate change, have a moral duty to provide the immediate support that is needed to save lives.”
