The UK’s big broken promise on foreign aid

The UK government has come under heavy criticism for the highly controversial decision to cut the foreign aid budget from 0.7% of gross national income (GNI) to 0.5%.

The move is set to leave a shortfall of around £4.7 billion in spending on humanitarian relief.
