Responding to the latest inflation statistics, Claire Harding, Research Director, Centre for London said:
“Amid so much economic uncertainty emanating from decisions by central government, the news that inflation is once again rising is going to cause further pain for Londoners.
Like the rest of the country, London needs our decision-makers to focus on the rising cost of living, which remains the nation’s biggest priority.
None of this is good news for our economy, but worst of all it means that Londoners already left behind through a lack of targeted support are going to be even more exposed to financial turmoil this winter. The government must not lose focus of its commitment to tackle inequality nationwide.”
