Responding to the Chancellor’s Statement announcing a new package of government support to help with the cost of living, Nicolas Bosetti, Head of Data and Insight at Centre for London, said: 

“The Treasury’s package will bring huge relief now to low income Londoners, who have struggled to meet basic needs under record-breaking inflation. It’s also reassuring that benefits will be uprated next spring to take inflation into account. Of course, much more needs to be done urgently to improve the energy efficiency of homes, this will be essential to combat the climate emergency and it will help reduce bills in the longer term.”
