Responding to reports that the Metropolitan Police will be placed in special measures by the police watchdog, Centre for London Chief Executive Nick Bowes said:

 “Given the litany of scandals and serious failings, the news that the Met Police have been placed in special measures is hardly surprising. Whomever is the next Met Commissioner has a huge job on their hands to shake up the police, and restore the flagging confidence of Londoners. Both the Mayor and the Home Secretary must put party politics aside and work together to grasp this once in a lifetime opportunity to give London the modern police force a global city deserves.”
