Government response to blood contamination scandal ‘wholly inadequate and insulting’

Paymaster general Michael Ellis’ response to Dame Diana Johnson’s urgent question on the blood contamination scandal was labelled by the chair of the home affairs select committee as “wholly inadequate and insulting”.

Ellis insisted that delays over interim payments were due to the government’s desire to “get it right”.

Shadow cabinet minister Fleur Anderson applied further pressure to Ellis and the government, telling the House of Commons that “justice delayed is justice denied”.
