Responding to the first leaders debate, Georgia Whitaker, Greenpeace UK climate campaigner, said:

“Tonight we heard a clear difference between Sunak and Starmer when it comes to the climate crisis. Sunak continued his betrayal of many environmentally-minded Conservative voters by spreading misinformation about how much climate solutions will cost families, and chose to play politics with the most pivotal issue of our time.

“Meanwhile, Starmer showed the potential of real climate leadership, he’s right that renewables will lower household bills, give us better energy security, and will boost the economy and create jobs.
“We desperately need politicians who prioritise clean cheap energy, warm homes and healthy clean air and water. Greenpeace is calling on voters to demand the climate leadership that we deserve at the ballot box.”
