Biography:
Michael McCann was elected as Labour MP for East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow on May 6th 2010 with a majority of 14,503.
Before his election Michael was a Labour Councillor from 1999 onwards.
He has been PPS to Liam Byrne as Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions since 2011.
He is the secretary of East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow CLP since 2004.
He is on the international development committee since 2010.
He was on the South Lanarkshire Council as a councillor 1999-2010 and Council Deputy Leader 2007-10.
