A socialist party founded in Bradford in 1893 by delegates from socialist societies, trade unions and local labour groups, growing disillusionment with the Liberal Party. Led initially by Keir Hardie, it aimed for collective ownership of the means of production. It helped found the Labour Representation Committee in 1900, which became the Labour Party in 1906.
