Chris Webb is the Labour MP for Blackpool South having been elected in a May 2024 by-election with a majority of 7,607. He succeeded the Conservative MP, Scott Benton who won the seat for the party with a majority of 3,690 in 2019.
The Blackpool South constituency is found within the county of Lancashire and covers the southern Part of Blackpool. Blackpool’s Pleasure Beach, Blackpool Tower, and the centre of Blackpool is found in this seat. Blackpool airport is also found here. There are notable pockets of deprivation in this seat. It was held by the Conservatives solidly between 1945 and 1997, before being gained by Labour. The Conservatives won it back in 2019.
Chris Webb was formerly head of Office for Sir Tony Lloyd MP and a parliamentary assistant to Gordon Marsden MP and Geraldine Smith MP.. He has also worked as former head of office for Wajid Khan MEP and Afzal Khan MEP. He was once the North West organiser for the Labour party from 2009 to 2015.
He is Chair of the Board of Trustees for Counselling in the Community.
Webb was elected as councillor on Manchester City Council from 2015 to 2018. He is a former Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner for the Lancashire Constabulary.
He studied politics at Hull University between 2004 and 2008. He is considered to be positioned on the left of the Labour Party. Born in 1986.
