Biography:

Nicky Morgan was elected as Conservative MP for Loughborough on May 7th 2015 with 25762 votes, taking 49.5% of the vote.

Nicky has been married to Jonathan, an architect, since July 2000 and in January 2008 they had a son.

Nicky grew up in Surbiton where she attended Surbiton High School; she then went on to study law at Oxford University. She worked as a solicitor specialising in Corporate Law advising a range of private and public companies since 1994.

In September 2010 Nicky was appointed Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to the Rt Hon David Willetts MP, Cabinet Minister at the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills.

She had previously been elected by her fellow MPs to serve on the Business, Innnovation and Skills Select Committee, but gave up that position following her appointment as a PPS.

In September 2012 she became assistant government chief whip. In July 2014 she became Secretary of State for Education.
