Jeremy Quin was first elected as the Conservative MP for Horsham in 2015, being reelected in 2019 with a majority of 21,127.
The affluent constituency of Horsham is found to the north of West Sussex. Around half of the electorate live in the town of Horsham itself. Many people work at the nearby Gatwick airport, or commute into London or Brighton on a daily basis. The seat has been held by the Conservative Party ever since 1880, and it has long been one of the party’s safest Parliamentary seats.
Quinn was appointed Paymaster General by Rishi Sunak in October 2022, attending cabinet. He served as minister of state at the Home Office under Liz Truss between September and October 2022.
Between February 2020 and September 2022, Jeremy Quin was Minister of State at the Ministry of Defence with specific responsibility for Defence Procurement. He previously worked as a senior Whip in the government’s whips office.
Born in 1969, he studied History at Oxford, where he was also President of Oxford Union.
Before becoming an MP, Quin worked in the city for many years at NatWest Securities (later Deutsche Bank). In 2008-2009 he joined HM Treasury on secondment serving as their Senior Corporate Finance Adviser through the financial crisis.
Quin is married to Joanna. He supported Remain in the 2016 EU referendum.
He is strongly opposed to the construction of a second runway at Gatwick airport. He favours expansion at Heathrow airport.
