Jake Berry was elected as the Conservative MP for Rossendale and Darwen in 2010, being reelected in 2019 with a majority of 9,522.
The Rossendale and Darwen constituency is found near Blackburn in the south east of Lancashire. Containing the rural western Pennines, the constituency is made up of a number of small towns such as Darwen, Heywood Entwistle, Bacup, and Rossendale. A largely working class constituency, this seat is regularly a highly fought marginal that backed Labour between 1992 and 2005.  Close to three fifths of the voters backed Brexit in the 2016 EU referendum.
Jake Berry MP served briefly as Conservative Party Chairman in the summer of 2022, attending cabinet as the Minister without Portfolio.  Mr Berry was regarded as something of a Boris Johnson loyalist and was removed from this position in October 2022 when Rishi Sunak became prime minister.
Jake Berry served as Minister of State for the Northern Powerhouse between 2017 and 2020.
Born in Liverpool in 1978 , Berry went to school in the city. He studied law at Sheffield University. He trained as a solicitor in the City of London and shortly after qualification moved back to the north west of England to work for a law firm in Manchester.
Berry’s area of expertise is Commercial Property with a focus on Social Housing, PFI and Development Law. According to the Register of Members Interests he provides strategic corporate advice to the law firm Squire Patton Boggs .
Berry supported Remain in the 2016 Brexit referendum. He is married to Alice, who once served as Boris Johnson’s parliamentary office manager. He has three children.
