Sara Britcliffe is‌ ‌the‌ Conservative MP‌ ‌for‌ Hyndburn,‌ ‌having‌ ‌first‌ ‌been‌ ‌elected‌ ‌to‌ ‌Parliament‌ ‌in 2019‌ with a majority of 2,951.

The Hyndburn constituency is‌ ‌found‌ ‌in the south east of Lancashire and‌ ‌covers‌ the small towns of Accrington, Great Harwood, Oswaldtwistle and Haslingden.  Located mid way between Blackburn and Burnley, the seat has a large number of terraced owner occupied housing.  This seat was held previously by the Conservatives during their landslide years of 1983 and 1987.  Having been then been held by Labour for nearly thirty years between 1992 and 2019, the Tories regained the seat in 2019.

Sara‌‌ Britcliffe was‌ ‌elected‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌2019‌ ‌General‌ ‌Election‌ ‌with‌ ‌a‌ ‌majority‌ ‌of‌ 2,951 ‌over‌ ‌the Labour‌ ‌Party, becoming the first Conservative to represent the seat since 1992.

Ms Britcliffe was previously a PPS at the Department for Education but resigned in July 2022 in protest at Boris Johnson continuing to remain as prime minister.

Born‌ ‌in 1995‌, Sara studied modern languages at the University of Manchester.‌  ‌She is the youngest Conservative MP.

She managed a sandwich shop in Oswaldtwistle, and served as a Councillor on Hyndburn Borough Council, before‌ ‌being‌ ‌elected‌ ‌to‌ Parliament.‌ ‌

Her father is a former Mayor of Hyndburn. Sarah Britcliffe’s mother died when she was nine, and she served alongside her father in the ceremonial role of mayoress of Hyndburn during his time as mayor. Her father had previously contested this seat for the Conservative Party in two previous General Elections.

She is Vice Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Groups on Lancashire, and Net Zero, and a member of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Women and Work, on Youth Action, and on Youth Action against Climate Change.
