UK government ‘ready to support complex situation’ following Nigeria killing

Following an urgent question, foreign minister Vicky Ford told the House of Commons that the UK “stands ready to support the complex situation” in Nigeria following the killing of 50 churchgoers.

Ford described the event as a ”heinous act”, telling MPs that it is clear that “religious identity can have a factor”.

Asked by Jim Shannon, who led a delegation to Nigeria last week, about the help that the government are providing, Ford explained that the UK are “working with the military on training on humans rights” but that it is a “complex situation”.
