Shannon fearful NHS PPE contracts could damage the UK’s human rights reputation

In a Westminster Hall speech, DUP MP Jim Shannon shared his concern that if the UK “fails to act”, it could risk damaging its reputation following NHS PPE contracts that ultilised forced Uyghur labour during the pandemic.

Shannon noted his understanding for the government that “had to respond urgently to the national emergency”.

However, the DUP MP expressed concern at “contracts worth £150 million” being given to Chinese firms with links to forced labour abuses.
