Scully and Rayner clash on fairness at work debate

BEIS minister Paul Scully explained to the House of Commons that the “only proper way” to deal with the cost of living crisis is to “grow the economy”. However, he admitted that this cannot be achieved overnight.

Labour deputy leader Angela Rayner described this vision as “miserable”, telling the House that “going out for dinner shouldn’t be a luxury item”.

Rayner repeated the words used by Boris Johnson to describe the culture in the passport office, branding the response by the government to the cost of living crisis as “mañana, mañana, mañana” (Spanish for ‘tomorrow;).
