Rees-Mogg: Government taking fraudulent loans ‘extremely seriously’

During cabinet questions, Labour’s Andrew Gwynne asked government efficiency minister Jacob Rees-Mogg “what’s he doing to get almost £5 billion back for the taxpayer?” This follows multiple cases of fraudulent loans during the Coronavirus lockdown.

Rees-Mogg labelled Gwynne “corporal hindsight”, telling the House of Commons that “the socialists were calling for bounce back loans to be issued faster”.

The minister assured the House that the government is taking fraudulent loans ‘extremely seriously’.
