Pursglove: ‘People will receive their passports in time for summer holidays’

Following an urgent question, home minister Tom Pursglove assured the House of Commons that people would receive their passports by the summer holidays despite Labour describing the passport backlog as “chaos”.

Labour’s Nick Smith told Pursglove that the government were “rubbing salt into the wounds” by suggesting to UK citizens to pay an extra £100 per person to fast track their passports.

Conservative backbencher Christopher Chope told the House that increased fears are causing a further strain on the service. But questioned the need for people to “pay a premium” if the ten week target for a turn around is not met.
