MPs react to Truss statement on Northern Ireland protocol

In her statement regarding the Northern Ireland protocol, foreign secretary Liz Truss called for EU talks on the protocol following multiple issues arising as a result of the Brexit deal.

Truss stressed to the House of Commons that the government’s “first priority is to uphold the Belfast Good Friday agreement”.

Shadow foreign minister Stephen Doughty suggested that if the government signed the agreement and feel that the protocol is “flawed”, “either they did not understand their own agreements, they were not upfront  or they intended to break it all along”.
