Michael Gove introduced to House of Lords as Baron Gove of Torry

Long-serving former cabinet minister Michael Gove has been formally introduced to the House of Lords.

Baron Gove of Torry, who stepped down from the House of Commons at the last election, wore the traditional scarlet robes for the introduction ceremony.

He recited an oath to the King before shaking hands with the Lord Speaker, Baron McFall of Alcluith.

Lord Gove currently serves as editor of the influential, right-leaning periodical The Spectator.
