Gove insists Treasury approved ‘Right to Buy’ funding

Housing secretary Michael Gove has insisted that the Treasury have confirmed that the expansion of the Right to Buy scheme will be funded.

He said that the funding for the plans will come from the existing “envelope” of spending green-lighted in the Chancellor’s latest spending review, but he did not elaborate on the specifics.

He said Housing Associations would not have their social housing grants frozen if they protested against the scheme’s expansion.
