Courts urges P&O Ferries to ‘respect’ unions and workers

Under-secretary of state for transport Robert Courts responded to shadow minister Louise Haigh’s urgent question, which requested a statement on the conduct of P&O Ferries’ chief executive, urging P&O Ferries to “treat the unions and their workers with respect”.

In his response, Courts promised “a package of measures that will ensure that the outcomes P&O Ferries are seeking to achieve cannot be seen through”.

Haigh welcomed the announcement, but reminded the House that “every available tool at the government’s disposal must now be used”.
