Barker calls on UK government to aid Colombian peace following May election

In a speech to Westminster Hall, Labour MP Paula Barker called on the UK government to “aid” peace in Columbia as violence increases in the run up to May’s presidential election.

Barker described Columbia as “the most dangerous place in the world to be a trade unionist”, with more deaths for trade unionists in Columbia than the rest of the world combined.

The Labour MP urged the UK government to do what they can in protecting “religious, indigenous, sexual, trade union and labour rights”.
