Commenting on TATA Steel’s announcement today (Thursday) that it will be pressing ahead with mass redundancies, TUC General Secretary Paul Nowak said:

“Workers and their unions at TATA have the TUC’s full support.

“These job losses would be a hammer blow to UK steel making and manufacturing and the UK economy as a whole.

“The company must think again and get back around the table with unions.

“We should have never have reached this crisis point. The Conservatives’ lack of an industrial strategy is costing this country dear, and we will all pay the price for their failings’”
