BASC gets wildfowling consent for clubs on Stour and Orwell estuaries.

Six wildfowling clubs in Suffolk and Essex will be able to continue shooting over the Stour and Orwell estuaries following talks between BASC and Natural England.

Natural England has extended the consent for wildfowling by the BASC affiliated clubs on the estuaries SSSIs and SPA until 20 February 2008.

BASC conservation officer, Dr. Conor O'Gorman, said: "Whilst an interim consent will allow shooting to continue, we were disappointed that a long-term consent could not be sorted out this year even though the clubs and BASC provided all the information originally required by Natural England into a management plan for the estuaries."

Adrian Judge from the Anglian Wildfowlers Association said: "We are thankful to BASC for all their assistance since January and ensuring an interim consent was put in place whilst negotiations for long term consent continue."
