The Power in Development Conference: Building an Equitable System

12-13 September 2022, online

The rise of Black Lives Matter, #CharitySoWhite and #ShiftThePower demonstrates the shared belief that it is time for the northern international development system – INGOs, funders and government –to rethink their role and purpose.

Over recent years some steps have been taken, but there lacks a shared vision of what these power shifts mean for the future of the humanitarian and development sector. Bond’s 2022 Power in Development: Building an Equitable System Conference will showcase the practical steps INGOs, donors and government should take to move towards a devolved and decolonised development system.

Built around the action that is already being taken and highlighting where locally led development has already begun to manifest radical change, this conference will provide a platform to look at how we can transform our system – supporting government, funders and NGOs to rethink their practice.

The event will explore the latest thinking from funders around progressive models that support locally led development, as well as the shifts that need to be made by NGOs, funders and governments, if they are to truly become anti-racist and progressive.

If you are interested in playing your part in transforming and reforming our international development sector, this conference will show you how and provide a glimpse of what the future of our sector could look like.
