Leaders of Britain’s main parties – and their wives – fan out across the country today as the general election campaign heats up.

Unlike yesterday, when PMQs kept party leaders in London, the campaign today will focus on areas outside of the capital, as the campaign steps into high gear.

David Cameron starts the day in London with a press conference and a visit to an academy, before travelling to Norwich and a community meeting in Plymouth His wife, Samantha, will visit a social action project in Leeds and others in Brigg and Goole.

Meanwhile, Nick Clegg will be launching the Liberal Democrats’ campaigns for Scotland, the south of England and the south-west.

Former leader Charles Kennedy will be helping him launch the campaign in Glasgow for the Scottish leg in the morning before he teams up with the party’s home affairs spokesman, Chris Huhne, for the south of England.

Gordon Brown will be staying in London, holding a press conference in the morning, before hosting a live online debate with voters in central London in the afternoon.
