Kirkbride ‘rescinds her resignation’

A Tory MP who was forced to resign from parliament in the wake of the expenses scandal has gone back on her decision, it has been reported.

Julie Kirkbride, who followed her husband in declaring she would not stand at the next general election, was hounded by the press for her expenses claims, which involved paying her brother to act as a nanny.

But http://conservativehome.blogs.com/ reported today that a special meeting of the Executive Council of Bromsgrove Conservative Association took place last night where Ms Kirkbride made clear she wished to be considered as a candidate at the next election.

The Bromgrove Conservatives are understood to be considering an all-postal vote for the constituency, in which Ms Kirkbride wishes to be a candidate.

Ms Kirkbirde would still need to be put on the approved list of candidates by Conservative HQ.
