Seven detained for ‘national security reasons’

Seven people from London and Greater Manchester have been detained and transferred to prison for national security reasons, the Home Office has confirmed.

All seven are foreign nationals. Six of them are from London and one from Manchester.

Although no arrests have been made, the seven detainees are being held in “secure prison service accommodation”.

The detentions have been made under the Immigration Act of 1971, which allows authorities to detain individuals prior to deportation.
