Crick steps down

Sir Bernard Crick has stepped down as chair of the Advisory Board for Naturalisation and Integration (ABNI).

The board was set up to advise the Government on the integration of new British citizens in the aftermath of Sir Bernard’s report recommending the introduction of citizenship classes and ceremonies.

At 75 Sir Bernard is set to return to academic writing.

Citizenship Minister Tony McNulty, said: “I would like to thank Sir Bernard for the dedication and commitment he has shown to the development of the citizenship and integration agenda in the UK. His hard work has been underpinned by his unique combination of knowledge and experience and his contribution to the debate on citizenship will be greatly missed.”

The post will shortly be advertised.
