Peace camp opens in Trafalgar square

A three-day peace-camp, organised by Stop the War Coalition to protest against the war in Iraq and any attack against Iran, opens today in Trafalgar Square.

Chair of CND Kate Hudson will be among a number of protestors sleeping over night in the square.

It will the first time a peace camp has been held in the square and organisers say it will be a “colourful and peaceful environment” designed to draw public attention to the national demonstration on March 19, entitled “End the Occupation of Iraq: No More Bush Wars.”

Speakers at the rally will include Ken Livingstone, Tony Benn, director of Liberty Shami Chakrabarti and a number of union leaders and anti-war MPs
