Redwood has dig at the government over UK border security

Following reports that the UK government is to send as many as 100 troops to Poland to assist the country in protecting its border with Belarus, the veteran Conservative MP John Redwood has had a poke at the government in relation to the UK’s border.

Writing on Twitter this morning, Redwood said, “The UK government is going to help protect the Polish border.  Can they also protect the UK one?”.

Redwood’s comments come after a period of relatively still weather has seen an increased number of migrant crossings in the Channel during the last week.

A new single day record occurred last Thursday when 1,185 people crossed the English Channel by boat.
