PM hails new UK-Belgium bilateral cooperation declaration

The prime ministers of Belgium and the UK have praised a new bilateral deal struck between the countries.

In a virtual meeting with prime minister Alexander De Croo of Belgium, the two leaders said the new deal is “the first of its kind” between the two countries.

According to 10 Downing Street, the deal “will enhance cooperation in crucial areas like trade, green technology, security, health and tackling illegal migration.”

Boris Johnson also “welcomed the work that has already taken place between the UK and Belgium to keep supply chains open”, following the emergence of the Omicron variant.
