MPs to debate Paterson suspension motion again this evening

The motion concerning the suspension of Owen Paterson MP, who formally stepped down from his North Shropshire seat earlier this month, will be considered once again by the House of Commons this evening.

The motion will also consider the rescinding of the Leadsom amendment which proposed reforming the parliamentary standards committee with the effect of quashing Mr Paterson’s suspension.

The motion will be allocated an hour’s protected debate time, after it was controversially blocked by the objection of a single backbench Conservative MP, Christopher Chope, yesterday evening.
