Laura Kuenssberg to replace Andrew Marr on Sunday mornings

The BBC’s current political editor, Laura Kuenssberg, is to replace Andrew Marr as the host of BBC One’s flagship Sunday morning politics show.

Ms Kuenssberg, who announced her intention to step down from her current role as the BBC’s political editor in late 2021, will take over the hosting of the Sunday morning TV show from September 2022.

The prime time weekly politics show was previously hosted by Andrew Marr between 2005 and 2021, and by the late Sir David Frost between 1993 and 2005.

Marr, himself a former BBC political editor, quit the Sunday morning TV politics show in late 2021 saying that he wanted to ‘get his voice’ back.  He has since taken on a role at the New Statesman, as well as presenting shows for LBC and Classic FM.

Kuenssberg has served as the BBCs political editor since 2015, doing so throughout the covid pandemic and the Brexit debate.   She is due to step down from the role in May 2022.

A successor to Kuenssberg in that role has yet to be named.
