By-election campaigning kicks off in Old Bexley and Sidcup
Campaigning has begun in Old Bexley and Sidcup, after a by-election was recently triggered by the sad death of 53-year-old Conservative MP James Brokenshire last month.
The late Old Bexley and Sidcup MP, who formerly served as Northern Ireland Secretary and as a Home Office minister, took leave from his ministerial duties earlier this year after a tumour recurred.
Labour councillor Daniel Francis is running on behalf of Labour while Bexley councillor Louie French will be the Conservative candidate.
Labour’s Lewisham West MP Ellie Rees tweeted this afternoon:
Great to be out on the doorstep in Old Bexley and Sidcup today. The by-election on 2nd December will be a one off opportunity for residents to send a message to Westminster that they are sick of this sleaze ridden government who don’t think that the rules apply to them pic.twitter.com/rv7LeZsIcd
