Student fees

Students are launching a mass protest at plans to raise fees in central London today.

Activists are angry at plans to raise the cap on fees to £9,000 a year, and most of their anger is directed at the Liberal Democrat MPs who pledged at election time to oppose any rise in fees.

The protest comes as Nick Clegg conducts PMQs in David Cameron's absence.

Union organisers plan to use 'right of recall' against Lib Dem MPs who back a rise in tuition fees.
