A chance for you to catch up on our five most-read items of the week:

Five: Pregnant women in detention centres kept hidden by the Home Office

Government guidelines state that pregnant women should only be detained in exceptional circumstances. However, it's hard to know whether they are following these guidlines because they refuse to release the data. Our fifth placed item this week highlighted a campaign which is calling for the Home Office to publish information about the women being held in immigration detention centres.

Four:  Lock-em-up brigade have created a prison crisis

Next up we looked at a new report by the justice select committee into prison safety which shows that assaults on inmates and staff are soaring. This piece suggested that only a liberal solution will improve the current crisis in our prisons.

Three: Think Brexit would mean lower immigration? Think again

It's no surprise that the Leave campaign is putting immigration at the centre of the argument for Brexit. But in third place, we have an article which argues that the issues surrounding the numbers of people coming to the UK are complex and that leaving the EU might not actually bring the number down.

Two: Queen’s Speech: A timely reminder of how incompetent the Tories are

Next, we decided that the Queen's Speech was the perfect opportunity to take a look back at the government's performance over the last 12 months. In second place today is an article which argued that all the U-turns and concessions the government has been forced to make recently are due to their own incompetence and that it's only the lack of decent opposition which makes them look anything like adequate.

One: The many times Boris Johnson compared his opponents to murderous tyrants

Boris Johnson's comments about the EU and Hitler caused plenty of controversy this week. But our most-read item pointed out that this is just the latest in a long line of comparisons he has made between people he disagrees with and tyrants.
