The Queen's Speech will take place on Wednesday November 18th, signalling the start of the parliamentary year.

Hopes of prompt reform of the electoral system bit the dust after it was confirmed a bill to that effect would not appear in the schedule.

But the government is hoping a strong legislative agenda, with a focus on jobs and apprenticeships, will give it some momentum ahead of the general election, expected next May.
